RuneScape 4 Platforms: PC, Console & Requirements
RS4 platforms are not announced. Check the status of PC, PS5, Xbox, mobile, Steam and system requirements, with sources for the console-release claim.
Jagex has not announced which platforms will support RuneScape 4. The announcement explicitly lists platforms among the questions it is too early to answer. This leaves the following possibilities unconfirmed; it does not rule them out.
PC, PS5, Xbox and mobile status
| Question | Current answer | What would settle it? |
|---|---|---|
| Will RS4 be on PC? | PC support and supported operating systems are not announced. | An explicit platform announcement for RS4. |
| Will it be on PS5 or Xbox? | Neither console family is confirmed. | A named console or generation in publisher information. |
| Will there be an iOS or Android version? | Mobile support is not announced. | Confirmed mobile availability and supported devices. |
| Will RS4 be on Steam? | No RS4 Steam distribution plan is confirmed by the announcement. | A publisher announcement or store page linked by Jagex. |
| What are the PC requirements? | No minimum or recommended specification is published in the announcement. | Official requirements for the relevant build. |
Why Steam and PC are separate questions
A platform describes where a game runs; a storefront or launcher describes how it is distributed and accessed. Confirmation of a PC version would not automatically confirm Steam, and a storefront choice would not answer every supported-operating-system question. Keep those details separate when reading future announcements.
Likewise, a console announcement would not necessarily confirm cross-play, cross-progression or controller support on every other platform. Those features need their own statements. For the difference between accounts and transferable progress, see account transfer.
Can Unreal Engine tell us the requirements?
The use of Unreal Engine is confirmed, but it does not specify RS4’s final engine version, performance targets or hardware requirements. The concept teaser is not a benchmark, and requirements from Dragonwilds or another Unreal game are not an RS4 specification.
There is currently no sourced basis for a precise “can my PC run RS4?” calculator. Wait for official requirements before making an upgrade specifically for this game. Any later test requirements should be labelled for that test build, rather than silently treated as final launch requirements.
Why existing RuneScape availability is not proof
OSRS, RuneScape and Dragonwilds are separate products. Their platform availability, console announcements or store listings do not establish RS4 availability. The game comparison helps identify which announcement belongs to which game.
The console claim below is therefore marked Not confirmed, rather than “false” or “never happening”. Follow the platform RSS feed for an official change to this answer. A rumour or a rewritten headline does not trigger a new item.

Can I play RS4 on PC, mobile, or console?
Platforms and system requirements have not been announced. Availability of OSRS or RuneScape on a device does not confirm RS4 support for it.
Check a claim
Compare the claim with the announcement. “Not confirmed” does not mean “ruled out”.
“RS4 is confirmed for consoles.”
The announcement explicitly leaves platforms open. That does not establish a console release, and it does not rule one out.
