RuneScape 4 Beta: Sign-up & Playtest Status
Can you join an RS4 beta? Check current playtest status, find Jagex’s official interest form, and learn how to verify a test invitation or download.
The RS4 announcement does not offer a playable build, open beta or early-access release. Jagex has not published a test schedule or invitation criteria. The action available now is to register interest on Jagex’s official RS4 page.
Is registering interest the same as beta sign-up?
The form lets you express interest in the project. The announcement does not promise a test place, a selection date, priority access or an immediately playable download. Calling it guaranteed beta access would go beyond what Jagex has offered.
- Open the official project page at play.runescape.com/4.
- Find its Register interest form and review the publisher’s wording and terms there.
- Look for a separate official announcement before assuming a test has opened or that an invitation has been awarded.
Registration is handled by Jagex. RS4Info does not collect your game sign-up, supply beta keys or improve your chance of selection. Following our RSS feeds or sending answer feedback is also separate from registration.
What do playtest, beta and early access mean here?
These labels can describe different access arrangements. A limited playtest may invite a selected group for a particular session; an open beta may allow a wider audience; an early-access release can have its own purchase and availability rules. These are explanations of the terms, not announced RS4 programmes.
For any future offer, check who is eligible, which devices are supported, when access starts and ends, whether payment is required, and whether progress survives the test. Jagex has not supplied those RS4 terms in the initial announcement. The permanent-progression principle does not by itself promise a wipe-free test; see accounts and progress.
Check an invitation or download
Before acting on a message that offers access:
- Open the official RS4 site independently and look for a matching announcement and its linked access instructions.
- Compare the offer with what Jagex actually says. A reference to the 2027 information milestone is not evidence that a beta is open.
- Do not enter a password or recovery code through an unsolicited message. Jagex’s security guidance warns about impersonation and requests for personal information.
- If an offer cannot be corroborated, do not treat it as confirmed access. A familiar-looking domain or logo alone is not a safety guarantee.
Read Jagex’s phishing guidance for its official advice. This checklist is a verification method; it does not label a specific invitation fraudulent without evidence.
When might we hear about participation?
Jagex plans more information in 2027, including ways players can get involved. It has not attached a beta date to that plan. The release timeline keeps the information milestone separate from launch. Follow the beta question below for a sourced change to testing access.
