When will RuneScape 4 be released?

No release date has been announced. Jagex says launch is several years away. Its plan to share more information in 2027 is not a 2027 release announcement.

Can I play RS4 or join a beta now?

The official announcement does not offer a playable build or beta. You can register interest on Jagex’s RS4 page. That is not an immediate access offer or a guaranteed test invitation.

Will RS4 replace OSRS or RuneScape 3?

Jagex says RS4 will coexist with Old School RuneScape, RuneScape and Dragonwilds as a separate experience. Those games have their own teams, roadmaps and continued investment.

Will my account, character, items, or progress carry over?

Account arrangements and progress transfers have not been announced. The design principle of lasting progression does not promise migration of existing characters, items or subscriptions into RS4.

Will RS4 still use point-and-click controls?

Jagex has not confirmed a control scheme. Neither point-and-click movement nor alternatives such as WASD or controller support should be treated as settled. Sharing Unreal Engine with another game does not establish shared controls.

Has RS4 combat or playable gameplay been demonstrated?

The linked video is a concept teaser. The announcement does not detail combat, and the teaser should not be treated as confirmation of final playable systems. Jagex has not provided enough information to establish how battles or moment-to-moment controls will work.

Which RuneScape is which?

One universe.
Separate experiences.

RS4 is a new MMO alongside the existing games. Reignited belongs to the current RuneScape experience, and Dragonwilds is a survival game. Their features and dates are not interchangeable.
